About

A Destination Honoring One of the Most Beloved Saints of Our Time

Almost 50 years ago, the Calandra family founded the National Centre for Padre Pio after their own daughter was miraculously healed by the blessed saint. Now recognized by the Holy See for its work, the National Centre continues to spread the message of the life, wounds, words and works of Padre Pio.

“The most beautiful act of faith is the one made in darkness, in sacrifice, and with extreme effort.”

Our History

The National Centre for Padre Pio has a long and faith-filled history spanning decades of devotion, work, and divine intervention. From its humble beginning as a simple parish holy hour in 1968, the National Centre has grown into the premier destination devoted to Padre Pio in the United States—and through new programs and pilgrimages, it continues to breathe new life into Padre Pio’s mission.

Our Mission

The goal of the National Centre for Padre Pio, Inc., is to lead souls to God, through the example of Padre Pio, the first Priest in history to bear the stigmata; the wounds of Christ. In thanksgiving to God for the unique gift of Padre Pio in our lives, we at the National Centre humbly strive to continue the salvific mission of Padre Pio.

Our Founders

In 1966, the Calandra family listened to Padre Pio’s call—and it changed the course of their lives forever. Their faith-filled journeyed to San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy sparked a deep devotion for Padre Pio that would extend far beyond the boundaries of their own family; today, it brings peace and healing to souls across the United States who visit the National Centre for Padre Pio.
