Year of Saint Pio: Preparing for the 25th Anniversary of the Canonization of St. Pio
Join us as we prepare to celebrate a significant milestone in the life of the Church and in devotion to one of her most beloved saints. On June 16, 2027, we will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Canonization of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina.
In honor of this momentous occasion, the National Centre for Padre Pio will observe a special Year of Saint Pio beginning on June 16, 2026. This sacred year will be a time of grace, inviting all the faithful to draw closer to the Heart of Christ through prayer, repentance, and the powerful intercession of Saint Pio.
Saint Pio encouraged souls to persevere in faith, reminding us to remain steadfast in our trust in God, especially during times of trial, and teaching that fidelity in the small things leads us closer to holiness. He also taught that when suffering is united with Christ and offered with love, it becomes a source of grace for both ourselves and others.
Throughout this year of grace, pilgrims will be invited to participate in special prayer services, devotions, conferences, and events dedicated to deepening faith and fostering a closer relationship with God. In addition, special indulgences will be available, offering a profound opportunity for spiritual renewal.
We are especially grateful to share that the Most Reverend Alfred A. Schlert, Bishop of the Diocese of Allentown, has granted special indulgences for this sacred year. A plenary indulgence will be available to the faithful who visit the National Centre for Padre Pio and devoutly participate in Holy Mass on May 2, 2027, the anniversary of the Beatification of Saint Pio, and on June 16, 2027, the 25th Anniversary of his Canonization. Additionally, partial indulgences will be available throughout the year to all pilgrims who visit the Centre and fulfill the usual conditions.
Some of the special events planned during this year include:
July 15, 2026: Anniversary of the Enthronement of the Relic Veil of Manoppello
Join us as we celebrate the first anniversary of the enshrinement of the relic of the Holy Face of Jesus at the Centre. Bishop Alfred Schlert, who presided over the enthronement ceremony in 2025, will be the principal celebrant.
September 14–23, 2026: Novena of Masses & Feast of Saint Pio
Celebrate our patron with our annual Novena of Masses in honor of Saint Pio and the celebration of his feast day. Mass and Confession will be available each day, with festivities including processions, music, and food on the weekend of September 19–20.
September 29, 2026: Feast of the Archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael
Celebrate the biblical messengers who signify God’s transcendence and loving care with a procession through the grounds of the Centre and a presentation on Padre Pio’s devotion to Saint Michael and his relationship with his guardian angel.
November 5–8, 2026: Holy Relics Exposition
Be here for what may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to venerate more than 600 major relics of the saints and blesseds of the Church. This special four-day event will include relics of Our Lord, Our Lady, Saint Pio, Pope Saint John Paul II, Saint Carlo Acutis, and the Apostles and Evangelists.
May 1–2, 2027: A Weekend with Fr. Chris Alar, MIC
Celebrate the anniversary of Padre Pio’s Beatification with Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, from the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy. The weekend will feature inspiring conferences, opportunities to meet Fr. Chris, and a plenary indulgence available to all who attend Mass at the Centre on May 2, 2027.
June 14–15, 2027: You Shall Stand Firm – A Retreat with Fr. William Casey, CPM

He will also be available to sign copies of his book, You Shall Stand Firm: Preserving the Faith in an Age of Apostasy, which will be available for purchase at the Centre.
June 16, 2027: The 25th Anniversary of the Canonization of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina
Plan to be with us for this milestone anniversary in the history of our beloved Saint Pio. A plenary indulgence will be available to all who attend Mass at the Centre on June 16, 2027. Fr. William Casey, CPM, who celebrated the Canonization Mass of Saint Pio at the Centre on June 16, 2002, will serve as the principal celebrant for this 25th Anniversary Mass.
