All Day

The Cross of Gratitude is on a pilgrimage to visit all the capital cities in the world by the year 2033, the 2000th anniversary of the crucifixion. One of its pilgrimage stops will be the National Centre for Padre Pio in Barto, PA from Tuesday, May 13th to Sunday, May 18th.

The mission of the Cross of Gratitude is to “unite all peoples of the world (as one family) under the Cross of Our Lord and invite us all to contemplate the great suffering and sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross, which He freely embraced out of love for us.” The Cross is carved from Ukrainian oak, weighs approximately 800 lbs. and measures 16 feet long. The Cross of Gratitude and its mission were blessed by Popes John Paul II, Benedict XVI, and Francis.

Tuesday, May 13 to Sunday, May 18, 2025
Cross of Gratitude is available for veneration during all hours the Centre is open.

It is with extremely sad and heavy hearts that we announce that we are CLOSED on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, as all staff will be attending the funeral for Victoria (Rocus) Bellegue, granddaughter of Centre founders Vera M. & Harry E. Calandra, and oldest daughter of Christina Calandra Rocus. In addition to being a member of the Calandra family, Victoria was also a longtime staff member here at the Centre, along with her mother and sister, Christiana (Rocus) Mohn. Please keep Victoria’s husband, daughter, parents, sister, and entire family in your prayers.
